When we planned to make a day trip to Brighton, Ah Hui at first asked:
"What's there in Brighton?"
So we were a bit du lan (pissed off) and cancelled it
But when he arrived, he suddenly wanted to go to Brighton
-_-
So we decided to go there on the saturday
It took us half hour to que and buy tix from the only ticket machine at Victoria
We had to race to the platform to catch the 12.36 train to Brighton
And another 10 minutes to find a seat on the train
X_x
It was, for once, a new train with air conditioning!
A welcome respite in the summer heat .. :)
Roger got us on to the open top tour bus, which goes around the city and the beach
It was 8 quid for a 24 hour pass; pretty worthwhile
A girl on the bus; it was a lovely day with blue skies at 27 degrees!
It was so hot that the guys took their shirts off almost immediately
and i regretted, quite bitterly, that i was wearing long jeans!

we decided to take a full tour of the city and the marina first
I loved the piped-in narrative which gave us all sorts of info about Brighton's history
here's the town church we passed by on the tour bus

Brighton Rail Station

The Brighton Clock Tower

a parachute falls from the sky

The cliffs at the west end of the beach

The Brighton Marina as seen from the East Side

At a stretch along the marina wall, graffiti artists were hard at work

Beachgoers fry themselves in the sand.. ha!

The Brighton Pier (side view)

The fire ravaged West Pier ..
which will be replaced by some state-of-the-art structure which would apparently put London Eye to shame

It was at the flea market that I saw a t-shirt dress which was perfect for the weather
it was free size but it was a great fit for me!!
First time in the UK that something free size isn't too big for me
Can you hear the excitement in my voice?
I immediately paid for the dress (only GBP 7.00!) and changed into it
-grins-
The flea market which flaunts indie stuff, veg burgers and activists

Graffiti in a back lane

Doorway of an old church; isn't it so quaint?

And last but not least.. don't you just love men in tutus?
hiakz

I absolutely enjoyed Brighton - the history, the vibrancy, and of course the weather
(not to mention the fact that i'm not "too" thin there)
I'm quite determined to take mummy and papa there
Papa would have a laugh about it and the occassional horror on mummy's face will be priceless
ha!
We loved Brighton so much Roger thinks he might move there and work as a waiter while looking for a permanent job.. haha
