Bakewell

Isn't it such a cute name for a quaint little town?
;)
And of course, there is a reason for the name
Bakewell is famous for puddings and tarts!

when we went for the hike in PD, Steph wanted us to pick up some puddings
so we dropped by at Bakewell on the way back
AC's super old TomTom did its job and we were there in no time
(Even Jas, who hates SatNavs, didn't have a chance to complain.. ha!)

The first thing we did was to go into town centre and hunt for pudding shops
i had blisters from my brand new walking boots
but Jas was having none of it cos the shops close at 5

since there were so many shops advertising for the original bakewell pudding
(it made me smile thinking of the Katong Laksa battle back home on the little red dot)
we went to the information centre to ask
but the lady only said.. we could get them at any shop
O_o

In the end, we went to a random shop
I bought two small bakewell puddings and a coconut/strawberry pie

only after we'd managed to procure our food supplies, did jas let me go sightseeing
the town wasn't much different from most small English towns
but what floored me was the wide canal
with various types of waterfowl
;)

yes, it was an overcast day
;(

and then i saw this bunch of little ducklings!
they were just too cute
as i squatted by the canal, they ran up to me, then changed their mind, and toddled down back to the water
they were so tiny and so quick i just couldn't get any of them
all i got was the tree they were playing under

I was about to give up and go home (blister!!)
when i saw a slightly older duckling swimming towards the bank
isn't it adorable??
it's still furry!

to this day, i still don't know the difference between the pudding and the pie
Jas saved a slice of the pie for me
but it tasted the same as my pudding!
(or was it the tart i bought????? hmm)

the strawberry/coconut thing was too dry and flaky
I just don't understand the fuss at all
but granted, in our rush, we might have gone into the wrong shop

they tell me Buxton is prettier
but.. aagh! i just don't have the time anymore
