After feeling a bit let down by the Deer Park
we went back to Nottingham City Centre for lunch
where we each had a roast pork sandwich with crackling plus chips drowned in gravy
:)))
it was great comfort food for a cold day
I'm beginning to have expectations about English weather
which is only bound to make me miserable
As often as I travel to Nottingham Uni, I'd never really been to Nottingham City Centre
I think it's pretty
if only because of its steep slopes which make the cobbled stone walks more dramatic
St Peter's Church, one of the three medieval parish churches in Nottingham, stands right at the heart of the city

anyway, we decided to skip the shopping this time
and head towards Nottingham Castle which was only a stone throw's away from city centre
At the Castle Gate is St Nicholas's church (the second of the medieval churches)
with its beautiful yard dotted with cherry trees
[Click here for the 360 view of St Nic's]

the castle grounds.. on a really gloomy spring day

Nottinghamshire is of course "home" to Robin Hood
and so a metal statue of him has been erected outside the castle

the castle gift shop sells swords for the little robin hoods
I'm sure I'd have wanted one when I was young
(or even now.. except I don't fancy shipping 100kg when i leave)

Lynn pointing at the tram ..
which really only covers the town centre area and nowhere else
but because we bought a Kangaroo pass, we had unlimited rides
yeay!

At least i'm cleverer this time
When I had to go to Sheffield Uni, I didn't realise tram tickets were sold on the tram
so i spent half hour trying to find the ticket machine at the rail station
O_o
