X'mas Break: Architecture in Barcelona

Pictures taken on the 31st of December, 2008 and 1st of January, 2009

i said we had to see at least one of Gaudi's projects
and my parents chose Sagrada Familia
I wanted to go to Parc Gaudi but my dad said we had the same mosaic sculptures in Sentosa
O_o

it was so overcast i couldn't get any decent pictures
and the "museum" was closed for repairs as well

so this was just about all i got

though.. admittedly, i couldn't find "better" pictures on the net either;
the official site has the best ones
because it has so many minute details that adds to its quirk
and if spot pictures of these were to be taken, it does seem to lose its magic

i actually think the best way to appreciate it (by proxy) is in miniature
and i'd have bought a replica if i wasn't so put off by the spanish indian vendors
(and the horrifying exchange rates!)

other "quirky" buildings are actually for everyday use!
residential apartments and business buildings in downtown have these unusual looking extensions or domes at the top
