My Singapore: Little India

KK Hospital, synonymous with Little India, has figured a lot in my life since 2004 when i joined CCF
the seminar rooms and wards hold many memories
I have participated in nurmerous meetings, babysat children, done briefings, felt heartache at the little faces peering out from ICU, marveled at the strength and courage of children and parents alike
and then, last friday, i passed through its doors for the last time as a CCF volunteer..
at least for the next two years

I was just about to turn into the hospital when this caught my eye

The largest lotus pond (that I know of) in Singapore
it is so inviting that people actually come to jog around the pond
i'd never thought it worthy of a photograph
but standing there that day, I remembered my french colleagues telling me how much they like the tropical greenery
as opposed to the autumn colours they usually find in their part of the world

A very traditional painting hangs in a coffee shop in Little India

a lone mosque stands tall amidst the many Hindu temples..

If i had the time (and permission), I would have taken pictures of the bangladeshi and indian migrant workers who crowd the streets on sundays
and also the intricate architecture of the temples (which are currently 'marred' by a barrage of national flags)
