Gaslamp Quarters

Gaslamp Quarters, San Diego, US
December 2011

Did I say I love San Diego?
Because I do
I love how everything seems to be within walking distance
the restaurants, the kitschy shopping, the supermarket, the beach.. everything.. from downtown
every single day that i was there, i walked the few blocks from my hotel to the conference hotel
In the mornings, it would be first avenue through the Martin Luther King promenade
in the afternoons, i would go back via Gaslamp Quarters, the historical district with its cute little shops, and many many restaurants
I never did manage to summon the energy to go out at night
because i was jetlagged and kept falling asleep by 7pm
-_-

This place is called Rockin' Baja Coastal Cantina..
I had lunch there on the first day of the conference
the atmosphere was so chill.. even at lunch on a week day

I had a lobster tail rice bake - it's creaminess balanced by the spiciness of the chiili/pepper
it makes me hungry now when i think of it
i love mexican food
I'm always much happier when i can eat mexican instead of the typical american meat/potato combo
and i'm not even that keen on vegetables!

I never figured out if this was a restaurant or a real strip club

I at least know this is a burger joint

A posh boutique next to a really cheep and cheerful one
(I picked up a black drape cardigan for 7 dollars!)

I didn't have time to take more pics..
because breakfast always took too long to order and I was always having to run!
