Glasgow

Pictures taken on the 7th of July

It was a faded old sign that greeted me at the train station
but i was strangely excited
it was my first time in Scotland

i was starving so i got myself a BK meal, my first since i got to this country..

it was then i realised i'd gotten over my phobia of eating alone in public
i faced the crowd and people watched as i worked my way through the burger
and snapped pictures of the clock hanging by the ceiling

outside the station was parked a colourful array of minicabs
which immediately reminded me of Bangkok
the driver of the cab i boarded was Indian
and as we wound our way through the traffic, i had to suppress a smile when i saw this:

Unfortunately, this was pretty much all i saw of Glasgow Central
because the conference was at Glasgow Uni which is at the West End
i'm told it's much pleasanter than Central, which is rife with gangster clashes
..
Yep

i'd booked myself into Queen's Margaret Residences, the official accommodation for the conference
the place just immediately made me feel at peace
it was like the suburbs.. quiet, unintrusive, comfortable
it felt rather like staying over at someone's house

when i checked in, i receive breakfast rations (orange juice, tea/coffee bags, chocolate muffin)
and two keys: the sensor key to the building door and the manual key for the apartment door and my room

Each apartment with 6 bedrooms had a common lounge; kitchennette, dining table, tv etc
