Auld lang syne - to the beat of the drum

Queens Park, Loughborough, Leicestershire
Sep 2009

my first and closest friend in Lufbra is now Dr Kee
and she's moving to Boston to start her new job next month
this was her last weekend in Lufbra..
so we basically glued ourselves together from friday to sunday..

fooooood..glorious food

on friday, it was her leaving do (in Orange Tree)
and Erin's pot-luck party
so we ate chicken wings, erin's famous artichoke/cheese dip with bread, jas's spanish omelette and my vada

for saturday dinner, we had..
jas's dad's beef rendang (that her sister stole from their parents' fridge in london)
and my apple puffs (with caramel topping)

sunday lunch was chicken/squid paella cooked by jas
a mountain of fried tofu i made and tea leaf salad
(this picture shows only half of what we ate!)

Winston watched us eat; he's taller than my 5'3", and 3 times my width
there're pics of jas and I sitting in his lap
and he has a suitably resigned look on his face
:P

.. and Photography..

sunday afternoon, we went to Queens Park to test drive her new camera
her first foray into "serious photography," the Panasonic Lumix G1
but of course i couldn't resist taking my own pictures..

the cute futuristic playground in Queens' Park
lately, i'm into taking pics with flowers in the fore/background

and since i'm so guai lan, i had to take a picture of the decay
instead of the pretty flowers surrounding it

As luck would have it, it was a warm afternoon (16 degrees!)
and there was a japanese drum showcase near the pavillion

the band played 3 songs.. one of which was really amazing
and they invited people to step up and try them out
i would have.. if i wasn't so co-ordination challenged

tiny tykes and their huge drums

isn't this the cutest scene?

it was the perfect weekend;
good weather, good food, good company and picture-taking
and i'm really looking forward to our Christmas break in DC!
3 cameras.. 6 people.. we're gonna have so much fun!

We'll take a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne
