Nostalgia in Heat Wave

I helped Jas with her Thesis yesterday; the printing and compiling
We lugged 700 pages of A4 paper around campus in the heat; it was 30 degrees
When we'd sent in the copies for binding, we sat at the benches for a bit
me enjoying an icecream, and she her cold green tea
the popsicle almost melted before I got a picture

It made me smile because I felt as though things have come full cycle
In 2005, the girl with the stack of pages was me, with yee as my porter
I remember thinking that this must be what giving birth felt like

and afterwards, we sat at the canteen for ages
with a bowl of ice jelly each
that very weekend, i took up roller blading
i'd never felt more free (or more lost)

If not for that thesis, i won't be writing this right now
it's our pasts that makes us who we are, is it not?
