A Taste of Spain @ Regent Street

Pictures taken on the 31st of May

I don't know why..
during the last week of May, I kept thinking we were in june
so when i saw the signs advertising the Spanish festival for the 31st
i thought.. why hadn't they torn down the old sign?
-_-
it was only on the 30th that I actually realised what calendar day it was
yea.....

it was a very hot and crowded sunday..
and the traffic police directing the human traffic lost their temper several times

The bag piper..
it just reminds me of the story of the bag piper and the rats

these two people were dancing merrily to the music
:)

the largest pot of chicken paella ever..
when we got there, the chicken was still raw
and we didn't wanna stick around for 2 hours for a spoonful of paella
but, yes, it's one of my favourite rice dishes :)

Woody wood pecker!! ..
i spent many happy hours of my childhood watching his antics on tv!
I searched high and low to see where they were giving it away but i couldn't find it

performers from the north, Asturias region; i honestly didn't know they existed
they played celtic folk music; a pleasing melody that feels communal and made my heart full
(here is an example)

Men performing a traditional spanish dance on stage; a happy one
yes, yes.. i know i need to grow taller; get off my case already

this hat was the other thing i wanted
but..
the crowd was too scary and suffocating that we gave up half way
before we got to the Madrid booth

a lady peaks into the stables
there was meant to be a display of equestrian skills.. but we missed it

a chubby little tyke enjoying his fast food meal by a corner
He was so serene in the middle of all that noise and bustle
that i just had to take a picture of him
and his mum very sweetly said it wasn't a problem

More head dresses.. i think that's so Spanish!

here i am changing my lenses (from roger's phone camera)
Thiha said i should learn to change lenses standing up
but i still don't know how

I loved Barcelona.. but I guess there's much more to Spain
the music, the dancing, the food, the vibrancy.. would be a heady combination in a summer breeze
