because i was afraid i might fall off my bicycle and break my camera
Dry stonewalling is apparently an ancient craft
i volunteered just because it was in the Outwoods
and it'd give me a chance to go into the woods
it was back breaking work but great fun
among us, we repaired about 3(?) metres of the stone walls today
(and i got a chance to jump over the wall as well!.. legally)
:))
our handi-work

how stonewalling is done..
.. using big hard dirty gloves
(they just make me think of cryo storage tanks...! occupational hazard)
basically, it's about clearing the damaged wall of debris
and building from the foundation up
with big pieces of stone on the outsides, and smaller chips on the inside to interlock and stabilise the wall
(that shadow is me and the hands are jas's; we were on our second section of the wall)

the integrated wall i.e. the "after" picture
the hardest part is linking the repaired bit with the existing wall

an easter bunny!
it belongs to the forest keeper and it lives amongst the chickens
i think it must fancy itself a chicken!
when someone threw in chicken feed, it made a dash for it
and when we first peered into the coop, it looked like it was guarding the eggs

p.s.
i'm ashamed to say that though i did cycle there (a distance of slightly over 3 miles)
the steep slopes got me thinking i was dying;
the strong winds didnt help either!!
we couldn't even freewheel on a downslope.. :(
anyway, that's my excuse
