when i said i was taking a coach tour, the first thing Jas said was:
"oh! the old peoples' tour!!"
-_-
it turned out to be exactly that
everyone stared up at me in surprise when i boarded the bus
but they were all friendly and sweet
and .. more resistant than me no doubt
because my body ached after 8 hours on the coach
while they seem to take it in their stride
:|
anyway.. scarborough is a nice place
i love how the castle and the beach and the gardens seem to interlink seamlessly
the south beach has much more activity
cafes, fish & chip shops, amusement parks, ice cream parlours..
in the old town harbour, there were little stalls by the beach selling trinkets made of sea shells and even fresh seafood
i'd have bought the big crabs if i didn't have a 4-hour ride home
so i pacified myself by eating a burger, ice cream, and fish & chips
:D
300 feet above the beach on the northern border is the castle
donkey rides ..
i contemplated trying it out..
but just in the nick of time, i realised that they were only meant for children!
:P
a hunting seagull..
this is the one time i wish my lenses were more than 200
because even though i got a picture of a diving seagull, it was too small!
:(
this dog went wild.. yapping and chasing after the seagulls
the southern wall of the castle
it was quite a dramatic slope, and everyone who attempted was out of breath
:P
a peep hole in the castle wall
the castle is 3000 years old and has been an almost impenetratable fortress
the gardens were on another slope
basically, scarborough is a town on a hill that happens to have a beach as well
and there are funny contraptions such as clift lifts
and trams that ferry people between the town (on the hill) and the beach!
i'm in love with my pretty pretty jewelry box
:)

Haha.. since i'm here for 2 years, i told myself i'll have to see UK. It's just more cost effective.
I'm going to Ireland over Easter Break :)
