Burmese in Singapore say prayers for people back home

Despite the rain, about 2000 burmese people turned up at the Burmese Buddhist Temple this evening to pray for the protestors. People started streaming in as early as 5pm for the session planned at 7pm. Many wore red as a respect to those who have sacrificed their lives in the past few days. At least 2 sessions were held to accommodate the crowd. Monks started the sessions with the Five Precepts and a short lecture, followed by chanting of verses in Pali; Metta Thote (Verse of Kindness) and the Verse of the Four Noble Truths. Each session lasted for about 40 minutes and ended with chants for love and peace.
