Paris - Day 4

we left the hotel at 7 this morning.. and stayed in office til 830..
and i still have to do some research tonight.. to be ready by tomor evening
but..
we're leaving the hotel tomor morning at 615 to go to Renne
for a surgery on a patient with spinal deformity

the train leaves at 7 in the morning..
at least i'll get to rest for about 2 hours each way

so.. back to work.

[edited]
we worked from 730am to 730 pm
it doesn't help at all that i had a phone call at 430
aagh
i finally slept thru the night.. and someone had to call me at dawn
grr!

i knew i was gonna have a full day.. so i tried to go back to sleep
but when i got up at 630, i had a splitting headache

so.. it started with a trip to the hotel the surgeon's staying at
Lys bought us a 5-day pass each.. so we can go out for dinner in town
tho i don't know how that's gonna be possible with the super tight schedule
so far, we're supposed to finish earlier on thursday..
but the way things are going, i doubt it pretty much
we'll see....

we reached Maison D'Alfort rather early.. about 845
Olivier did his presentation for the third time since we got here
i not only rem his slides, i even rem the exact words he'll say
:|

i chose to scrub in for the pig lab tho Lys and Alvin didn't
they helped to take pictures.. for the singapore set up
i was like the .. 3rd assistant.. i'd better get used to it

this time, it's a 60kg pig ..
when the vet did the laminectomy, it bled so much..
we had to use a vacuum to suck up the blood
guess who had to hold the gun..?

the pig today was smellier too..
i think .. it lost control of its bowels when it was anaesthised
it's a good thing i wore the mask today...

alvin took a lot of pictures..
but i think it's probably too bloody for most pple

so.. when we were done, we sent the surgeon back to the hotel
and waited for him to check out, then put him in a cab to the airport
the 3 of us had no time for a sit-down lunch..
so Lys brought us to a deli for a take-away
i got a chicken/egg/cheese salad.. and a humongous chocolate eclaire
but i only had time to finish the salad before the training started

we started the PLUS (Kamille, she's danish actually) at 130.. and finished at 4
then went thru the X-Plus (Sophie) from 4-530 (??)
i tried the more sophisticated instruments from both the systems
but...... i couldn't apply enough torque to lock the screw
blast!
it needs 8Nm and.. i just couldn't ..
i tried til my face was red
:(
but the 'click' eluded me..

at 530, i ate the eclaire while we did the 'quiz' for both systems (50 Q)..
it's full of chocolate pudding
i'd have taken a photo.. but when i remembered, there was just a quarter of it left
:P

after the quiz, we had a discussion with Lys about .. work
it was damn dark when we left.. and there was no one left

tomor, we are going to Ruoen to observe a scoliosis surgery..
it'll be a whole day thing.. and our train tix are for 7.05 am and 6.00pm
they cost 91.80 each ..
O_O

so........
i'll make sure i switch off the sound on my phones tonight
cos i need to be ready by 6am tomor.. latest

on the bright side, i can probably sleep/write on the train tomor
i have 4 hours of 'rest'
